Spiritual Gifts

We believe that God the Holy Spirit is sovereign in the bestowment of all His gifts. He has given talents, abilities, skills, and graces to each believer for the building up of the church. He has given special gifted men to the church such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, for the edifying of the saints and the building up of the body of Christ. We believe that the offices of apostle and prophet no longer exist but were limited to the first century church; and that some of the gifts that were intended for authentication signs, such as speaking in tongues and public miraculous healings, are no longer needed today because the believer is to walk by faith not by sight, and because the scriptures are complete. I Cor. 12:4-11; 13:8-10; II Cor. 12:12; Eph. 4:7-11 We believe that God does hear and answer the prayer of faith, in accord with His own will for the sick and afflicted.
